Don’t Copy – Emulate

Opt In | Ep. 43

Hey there listener! AJ here 👋

Recently, I found myself in this situation:

Don't Copy - Emulate

Yup, I’m Spiderman.

Kidding.

I received a good email from an SDR – one of the better ones in a while. And as I was reading it, something dawned on me.

It was my email.

*dun dun dun*

Alex and I talk about the situation (and my response) in our recent episode of Opt In (watch that below).

But the big takeaway I want to impart here is the importance of critical thinking.

Leaning on and learning from your peers is critically important as an SDR. But if you just copy what they do, you’ll never learn why it works. And if you don’t know why it works, you can never make strategic changes to scale it out or adapt it for different situations.

You can’t circumvent the need for continuity and relevance by copying good templates.

Opt In to understanding why something works versus copying it because it does work.

And check out some more thoughts on email continuity + screenshots of my message below!
