Taking your bundle of joy on the road

The Challenge

Going mobile with a refreshed website experience

Like the strollers it sells, UPPAbaby was on the move when the company approached us. Sales were up, but as revenue increased, so did the growing pains. The company’s website featured a massive amount of content, but it was never built to function on mobile devices, and the user experience was a pinching-and-zooming mess. UPPAbaby needed a website that catered to its increasingly on-the-go customers, and challenged us to make it happen.

The Solution

Breaking it down

A full redesign was off the table, so responsive design wasn’t really an option. And the amount of content on the site meant developing separate desktop and mobile sites just wasn’t viable. So we started with an in-depth audit of the existing UPPAbaby site’s coding and infrastructure. The audit revealed the opportunity to use strategic information architecture, design, and complex coding to create a best-in-class mobile experience that leveraged content from the existing, desktop site.

Collapsible content (and strollers)

Our Information Architecture team identified each page required to make the mobile site a success. Carefully crafting sitemaps and wireframes, our designers created a framework that could draw content from the existing site. Each design would guide users intuitively through the mobile experience, while framing content not tailored for mobile devices. With wireframes in hand, our designers painstakingly worked to create beautiful looks for each page of the new, mobile site.

Once designs were finalized, our developers worked their magic, delivering UPPAbaby a new, stunning mobile experience in which content is automatically optimized when site managers update the desktop experience.
